Treat with dignity and kindness

1 min read

To the editor:

After the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Canada had our back. Thousands of Americans on transcontinental flights were diverted to Canada and welcomed, sheltered, and fed by Canadians.

Furthermore, when the United States invaded Afghanistan to go after the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden, Canadians joined the fight. Canada lost 165 of its best young citizens in that war.

Therefore, I ask why the nasty, insulting tone in the current trade negotiations with Canada? There may be genuine points of disagreement, but let’s treat them with the same dignity and kindness that Canadians have always shown toward us.
