Kudos to city on new signage for cyclists
To the editor:
Kudos to the city of Sanibel for installing new bold signage, directing cyclists to use the Shared Use Path from West Gulf Drive to the Sanibel-Captiva Road, instead of riding on Rabbit Road.
As a resident of Surf Sound Court (the bike path for Rabbit Road), I have to drive on Rabbit Road to get anywhere on the island. I observe cyclists on almost a daily basis turning off the Shared Use Path to follow Rabbit Road to Sanibel-Captiva Road. I’ve even seen visitors consulting the map and deciding that Rabbit Road is the path they should take. This is not only extremely dangerous for cyclists, it is frustrating for drivers.
The new signage is definitely a step in the right direction for improved safety and convenience for visitors and residents alike.
