Proposed roundabout, traffic challenges

To the editor:

Thank you Bob Brooks for your letter in the March 18, 2026, issue of the Island Reporter, concerning the many drawbacks of a roundabout at the intersection of Periwinkle Way and Causeway Boulevard. Your observations, as usual, are spot on.

If I recall correctly, Bob put together an in-depth proposal last year for the city of Sanibel to consider that if implemented would solve the problem without the need for a roundabout. I believe Bob has considerable experience and expertise in this area having worked for the state of Indiana.

Why are we doing yet another study? Bob has already done it at his own expense with no cost to the city. The city should hire Bob as an adviser or at least appoint him to head up an ad hoc committee if he would be willing to do it.
