Kudos for speaking up, taking a stand
To the editor:
Kudos for taking a stand that will likely result in some negative feedback in the editorial published in the Feb 4, 2026, issue of the Island Reporter.
My family has been coming to Sanibel for many, many years sine 1979. Never bought, so rented and splurged — bringing lots of dollars to the town, as do many like us. I guess if you add it up maybe $400,000 plus, maybe more. Point is while not a resident we care deeply about Sanibel and our country, both of which have been going through some challenging times.
All too many remain silent as what made this country great is torn asunder, be it vaccine denial, tariffs, oppression of minorities, insults from on high, and the list goes on and on.
Anyhow, thanks for speaking up.
