Sean Michael Swaney
With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Sean Michael Swaney, who left this world on July 31, 2026, at the age of 57. Sean was preceded in death by his loving parents, Michael Swaney and Ruth Swaney.
Born in Orlando and raised in North Fort Myers, Sean’s journey led him to the beautiful islands of Sanibel and Captiva, where he began his career as an arborist for Coastal Tree Services. His expertise and passion for nature shaped the landscapes of the islands, leaving a lasting impact on all who encountered his work.
For over two decades, Sean dedicated himself to serving the island community by working alongside Rusty Farst, landscaping and constructing stone driveways and walkways that enhanced the beauty of the surroundings. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in the flourishing roadsides that he created, showcasing his talent and commitment.
In his final years, Sean continued to brighten the island with his landscaping skills as a member of Jason Gamache and Co. His legacy lives on in the thriving beauty that adorns every corner of the islands he loved.
A devoted husband to his beloved wife Iris and a cherished companion to their puppy dog Bailey, Sean will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and the transformative impact he had on the community.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday August 23 from 1 pm. to 3 pm. at 10550 Deal Rd. N., Fort Myers, FL 33917-5234 United States. All who knew Sean are invited to join his family in honoring his memory and celebrating his life.

Though Sean’s physical presence may be gone, his spirit lives on in the beauty of the island landscapes he nurtured and the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, reunited with his parents and forever remembered for the legacy he leaves behind.
