William “Bill” Boswell

William “Bill” Boswell died on January 14, 2025 in Miami, Florida at the age of 83 after a long battle to survive the after effects of an accident.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jaye Boswell; two sons, Channing Boswell (Jaime) of Bokeelia, Florida, and Duncan Boswell (Tiffany) of Orlando, Florida; two grandchildren, Chloe and Beckett Boswell of Orlando, Florida; his brother, Mike Boswell (Maida) of Mystic, Connecticut; his sister, Carol Boswell of Hailey, Idaho; and sister-in-law Karen Fairchilds (Charlie) of Stuarts Draft, Virginia. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Midge Boswell.

Bill was born on May 13, 1941 in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating college, he enlisted in the Navy in 1964 and served for 3 years on the USS Seminole during the Vietnam War. He continued to serve in the Navy Reserves, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander with honorable discharge after 20 years served. After his active duty, he graduated from the University of Miami with an MBA and went on to develop a career as a Certified Public Accountant. He met and married his wife, Jaye, in Miami in 1968. They lived in Miami until 1982, when they moved with their two sons to Sanibel Island where they lived happily in the Dunes for 43 years.

Over the years, Bill was supportive of and active in many of the local organizations. He was a founder of the youth sailing program in Fort Myers, now known as the Edison Sailing Center. He was a lover of nature and wildlife and supported the work of the many organizations on Sanibel working to conserve the nature of the island. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis where he enjoyed the friendship of many and was also a valued member of the Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church where he served as treasurer for many years.

In their retirement years, Bill and Jaye made a second home in the community of Layton in the Florida Keys and spent time traveling. Bill enjoyed spending time planning for their trips to explore this country and others, as well as visiting with family and friends. His family will miss his love, his cooking and his stories.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be planned at a later date where his family hopes to gather along with friends to share stories.
