Captiva Island Farmers Market returns
By MEGHAN BRADBURY
mbradbury@breezenewspapers.com The Captiva Island Farmers Market kicked off the season last week featuring a full market for resident and resort guests to enjoy.
Local Roots Farmer’s Market Manager Jean Baer said the market will run through the end of April every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Shops at South Seas, at 5400 Plantation Road.
“The majority of the vendors will be returning to include Angelic Desserts, Twelve Seasons Farm, Heritage Honey, Dynasty Guacamole, Twila Mae’s Chicken Salad, Pilar’s Empanadas and much, much more,” Baer said, adding that there will also be local crafters.
The market also has prepared meals that resort guests love to pick up and bring back to their units to cook.
New this year is Florabel, a local resident on Sanibel, and Cruz Produce, a new smoothie vendor.
“It’s wonderful for the resort guests and Captiva residents and it’s a nice alternative for Sanibel residents that can’t make it on Sundays. It’s a beautiful drive out there and we have plenty of parking,” Baer said of the market.
She said there are also some really cute shops that have reopened at the plaza.
“South Seas has been great to work with. We are very appreciative for everything they do to allow the market to be there,” Baer said.
