McT’s Shrimp House, landmark restaurant on Sanibel, is sold

1 min read

The building and land that housed McT’s Shrimp House, at 1523 Perwinkle Way, has recently been sold. For more than 30 years, the 6,200 square foot building at that location was leased by various operators one of Sanibel’s most popular eateries.

The purchase price was approximately $2.7 million.

The McT’s restaurant building also contained the popular bar and cocktail lounge island locals referred to as the “Upside Down Lounge.” The lounge area contained unique Cypress trees with their root structures on the ceiling and tree trunks extending to the floor.

RE/MAX of the Islands’ Realtor Chuck Andrews was involved in the sale as the marketing agent on behalf of the former real estate owners, the MSD Family Corporation. Andrews said the sale included the land and building from which McT’s operated and the adjacent land parcel that was simultaneously sold by a different owner.

Attempts to reach the new owner of the restaurant and property, Barry Greenfield, were unsuccessful.
