Recreation center provides update on activities, events
The Sanibel Recreation Center reported on upcoming programs and activities.
It will host Lee Health’s Blood Mobile on Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donors will receive a mini-physical that will include check of temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and hemoglobin; donors must be 17 years or older and weigh at least 115 pounds. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment time by calling the center.
The Sanibel Tropics will hold a program for interested players on Aug 17. There will be an informational session for parents from 5 to 5:45 p.m. and a skills assessment from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Attendees can learn more about the program and meet the AAU basketball team. Sound Bowl Healing with Dani will take place on Aug. 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Registration is required.
The Flag Football Fall League will run from Oct. 9 through Nov. 20, with practice from 5 to 5:45 p.m. followed by game play from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Open to boys and girls in grades K-8, the program offers a fun, supportive environment where young athletes can build skills, confidence, teamwork and sportsmanship. The cost is $60 for members and $75 for non-members and includes a jersey. Registration is required.
The center is open on Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beach parking permits are available for purchase.
