In celebration of National Yucatán Shrimp Day, Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille presented its second annual Doc Ford’s National Yucatán Shrimp Day 7K on May 23 at its Sanibel location. It attracted 305 participants and featured a seven-kilometer course in honor of the seven ingredients in the restaurant’s Yucatán sauce. Awards were presented to the top three male and female runners and by age groups. All participants were automatically entered into a drawing for a Doc Ford’s customized YETI cooler. The event also featured complimentary mojitos for participants, live chef demonstrations of its Yucatán shrimp and a photo booth. The race raised $10,000 for the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS), which supports the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel.
