Captiva library, county system offer programs
The Captiva Memorial Library, which is part of the Lee County Library System, is offering the following free programming:
CHILDREN PROGRAMS

The library is open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

ADULT PROGRAMS
– Aug. 25: Online Author Event with Beronda Montgomery from 2 to 3 p.m.
Discover a fascinating conversation with award-winning biologist Beronda L. Montgomery, Ph.D., as she discusses her book, “When Trees Testify: Science, Wisdom, History, and America’s Black Botanical Legacy.” She is a writer, researcher and scholar whose work explores how living organisms respond to their environments. Montgomery’s research focuses on plants and photosynthetic organisms, while her writing highlights the connections between science, history, leadership and culture. She also authored the book “Lessons From Plants.” The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.
