Campaign features first-ever stroll
As part of “Beach Kindness Week” on July 13-19, the Love Sanibel Back initiative featured a Shell Stroll on July 13 on the island. Six hundred event maps were handed out to participants at Bubbly Latitude, marking 40 participating businesses and organizations. At every stop, participants collected painted and natural shells, while discovering Sanibel’s shops, restaurants, nonprofits and attractions. After gathering stamps from at least 10 locations, they redeemed their map at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. They also enjoyed shell painting with the Santiva Islanders, complimentary custard from The Shack of Sanibel, seashell cookies by Pinocchio’s Original Italian Ice Cream, and shell-themed prizes, including painted shells by Shell Fairy Jayne Witkie. Each stop added its creativity to the event by offering a unique shell for participants to collect. Organizers expressed gratitude to the participating businesses and organizations, as well as the volunteers, sponsors and community partners.
