Bank of the Islands donates to boat
Bank of the Islands donated $8,500 to the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District for the purchase of a marine rescue boat at Station 172 on Sanibel-Captiva Road. Like the one at Station 171 on Palm Ridge Road, the light-duty boat is capable of being hauled by a truck trailer or driven through shallow waters, and it will be ideal for mangrove shorelines, inland waterways and canals. As part of the Marine Emergency Response Team (MERT), the Sanibel crew will be able to assist in water rescues in other communities. The bank noted that On Island played a leadership role in the effort by raising additional funds with the creation and sale of a speciality T-shirt. On Island expressed its gratitude to Bank of the Islands for its donation toward the boat, adding that it was proud to help raise awareness through its shirt initiative.
