SSF hosts Casino Night, golf tourney
The Sanibel School Fund (SSF) presented its first-ever Casino Night and annual Blue Ribbon Golf Tournament on May 1-2 at The Sanctuary Golf Club on Sanibel. The Casino Night featured gambling, prizes, a live and silent auction, raffles and more. The tourney involved a classic format scramble, with trophies for the first, second and third place winners. The winning teams were: Dean Coumanis, Mike DeLellis, John Lugo and Brooks Selby, first place; Matthew Bevins, Bradley Mell, Carson Smith and Ben Wheeler, second place; and former Assistant Principal Jill Gurgal, John Gurgal, Gerald Ronan and Rick Verity, third place. The SSF noted that the trophies were student designed and 3-D printed by the Sanibel Public Library, which also printed the “blue ribbon” that all of the teams received. It expressed its gratitude for the island community’s ongoing support. The proceeds benefited The Sanibel School.
