SANCAP CHAMBER The SanCap Chamber welcomed back the fully-recovered Sanibel Beach Club II with an official ribbon-cutting on June 18 on Sanibel.

Sanibel Beach Club II has been welcoming back owners since August 2025, but certain amenities, like the pool and jacuzzi, have been missing until now. The condominium complex celebrated the full completion of its rebuild on June 18 with a SanCap Chamber ribbon-cutting.

“The grand reopening signifies a return of SBCII amenities to a pre-Ian level and better,” its board of directors said. “Over the course of three years, the resort was completely rebuilt. Each building was totally stripped down to the cement blocks, was cleared by structural engineers, and was rebuilt.”

Opened in 1979, Sanibel Beach Club II was among the first timeshare properties in the United States. The eight-building, beachfront resort grounds comprise 29 condominiums, a pool, jacuzzi, pool house with bathrooms, tennis/pickle ball court, shuffle board court, grills and boardwalk access to the beach.

“We want to thank the SanCap Chamber for doing the ribbon-cutting ceremony,” the board said. “We are grateful for our relationship with the chamber, thank the chamber for the work they do to support all the island businesses, and look forward to continuing our relationship as Sanibel Beach Club II, the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, and the greater Lee County area continue to recover from Hurricane Ian and emerge stronger than before.”

“We welcome the Sanibel Beach Club II back to the thriving Sanibel East End community, situated adjacent to the Sanibel Lighthouse Park,” chamber President and Chief Executive Officer John Lai said. “Beyond its importance to island tourism, it has a place in the annals of national hospitality history. Truly, this is a day to remember.”

The Sanibel Beach Club II is at 205 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
