Sanibel library offers range of programs and topics
The Sanibel Public Library provides a variety of programming for adults and children.
With support from the Sanibel Public Library Foundation, the library hosts a series of virtual author talks to include bestselling authors and thought leaders. The next one will take place on July 28 at 2 p.m. with Dr. Marisa Franco, author of “Platonic: How the Science of Attachment Can Help You Make — And Keep — Friends.” Join a virtual conversation with the New York Times bestseller and one of the world’s leading experts in human connection.
A psychologist and TED speaker, Franco works as a professor at The University of Maryland. She writes about friendship for Psychology Today and has been a featured connection expert for major publications like The New York Times, The Telegraph and Vice. Franco speaks on belonging at corporations, government agencies, nonprofits and universities across the country, including Harper Collins Publishers, Cisco, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and The Department of State.

Additionally, the library has the following programs scheduled:
Crafternoon will be held on July 22 from 3 to 4 p.m. Open to ages 3 and older, participants will make a work of art. A variety of craft supplies will be available, along with examples and guidance.
On July 23, Australian Outback Adventure with Didgeridoo Down Under will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. The program will entail an energetic fusion of Australian music, culture, art, puppetry, comedy, character building, storytelling, and audience movement or participation. The didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1,500 years, and it is known for its otherworldly sound.

WEEKLY PROGRAMMING
– Family Storytime: Fridays and Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Bring the whole family to enjoy stories, songs, movement and early literacy play centers that spark creativity and motor skills. Open to babies and toddlers and their caregivers.
Library cards are available to residents of Sanibel and Lee County at no charge. Visitor library cards are available for a $10 annual fee.
The library is open on Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
