Rotary, local students take part in project
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club was recently joined by 10 students from the Interact Club at Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers for a oyster restoration project on Sanibel, in partnership with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF). The project was organized by Rotarian and SCCF Community Conservation Coordinator Skye McDonald. It was one of several service initiatives that the students have undertaken since forming this past school year. Other projects included assisting with the city of Sanibel’s 50th Anniversary Celebration, Heights Foundation’s Holiday Toy Drive and Rotary Club’s Arts & Crafts Fair. Eric Jackson and Dolly Farrell serve as Rotary liaisons for the student club, helping coordinate joint service opportunities between the two, including the partnership with SCCF.
