Love Sanibel Back continues
Love Sanibel Back will continue on July 13-19 with Week 7, themed “Beach Kindness Week.” Residents and visitors are invited to help keep Sanibel’s beaches beautiful by picking up litter, enjoying nature and connecting with others who care about the island. This week’s simple challenge is to pick up at least 10 pieces of litter during a beach visit — or bring a friend and collect 20 or more. Participants can also post a photo of their effort on social media using #LoveSanibelBack to be entered for a chance to win local gift cards. In addition, a Shell Stroll will take place on July 13 from noon to 4 p.m. Starting out at Bubbly Latitude, participants can pick up a passport and map, then select from 40 locations to visit, where they will collect painted and natural shells. They will end at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church for a family-friendly celebration, where they can turn in their completed passport for shell-themed prizes. Running from now through August, Love Sanibel Back’s 2026 theme is “Buy Local — Spread Joy — Give Back.” The community initiative includes about 75 participating businesses and partners. It it hosted by Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, in partnership with the city of Sanibel and SanCap Chamber and with support from sponsors and businesses.
