CROW extends registration for summer camp
The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) extended the registration deadline for its final 2026 Conservation Summer Camp: Ospreys on Aug. 3-6 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for grades 9-12.
The application deadline is now July 27.
The camp combines wildlife conservation, veterinary medicine and outdoor discovery through STEAM — Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics — activities that bring science to life.
Campers will tour the wildlife hospital, meet medical team members and animal ambassadors, use microscopes, build habitats, and participate in veterinary skills labs inspired by the work performed every day at CROW. They will learn about sea turtles, rescue and rehabilitation, and the connection between healthy ecosystems, wildlife and people through the “One World, One Health” curriculum.
One of the big highlights for campers will be the opportunity to step into the role of a wildlife veterinarian. They will take part in a suture lab kit, followed by a dogfish shark dissection.
“These labs give students a chance to experience real veterinary and biological science in a way that’s exciting, memorable and age-appropriate,” CROW Education and Outreach Coordinator Brittnay Laster said. “Whether they dream of becoming a veterinarian or simply love learning about wildlife, campers leave with a new appreciation for the animals that share our world.”
The animals used for dissections are not patients. Specimens are obtained from licensed educational suppliers that comply with U.S. Department of Agriculture regulations and are used solely for educational purposes.
The cost is $350, with lunch and aftercare available for an additional fee.
Scholarships are available for eligible applicants.
