City seeks volunteers for tribute
The city of Sanibel is seeking volunteers to assist with A Field of Heroes. Commemorating the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11, the community tribute will feature 2,977 American flags — one for each life lost — on display through Sept. 11 at the Sanibel Community Park. To prepare the flags for installation, volunteers will assist with attaching laminated name tags to each flag using small zip ties. Taking place at the Sanibel Recreation Center, at 3880 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, the following assembly sessions still have openings: today, July 21, from noon to 2 p.m.; July 22 from 5 to 7 p.m.; and July 23 from 10 a.m. to noon and from 5 to 7 p.m. To sign up for today, visit https://pointapp.org/orgs/2557.
