The Captiva Memorial Library, which is part of the Lee County Library System, is offering the following free programming:

ADULT PROGRAMS
– July 9: Online Jumping the Pond — Finding the Origins of Your Ancestor from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Before one travels to their ancestor’s country and locality of origin, they must do their homework. Whatever the nationality of one’s immigrant ancestor, to effectively search they must begin at home. The most important piece of information is the town or parish where one’s ancestor was born. If one does not know that information, they must dig through records at home to harvest as much information as possible. The lecture will look at the type of records available in the United States that might help one identify a town or origin in the native country. Registration is required by July 9 at 9 a.m.
– July 14: Online Author Event with Karin Slaughter from 7 to 8 p.m.
