Sally Hoye, of Alameda, California, found two cabrit murexes on June 25 at Blind Pass Beach on Captiva. She spotted the shells less a foot apart. “This was the first time I’ve even seen a cabrit on the beach, so finding two — even though one had some condition issues — was an exciting find,” Hoye said. She reported that she is an avid shell collector who grew up in Deerfield Beach and has been coming to Sanibel for more than 20 years. “This was my best find ever, especially finding two!” Hoye added.
