In recognition of National Poppy Day, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 123 distributed crepe paper poppies on May 23-24 at Jerry’s Foods on Sanibel. The proceeds from the Poppy Program are used to provide hardship assistance to veterans. On Memorial Day — May 25 — it served up hot dogs and chili dogs at American Legion Post 123 on Sanibel. The Auxiliary thanked everyone who participated in and supported the Poppy Program. The generosity helps it continue its mission of assisting veterans in need in the community. The Auxiliary hopes to expand its future outreach by supporting the Honor Flight Program. To donate, visit https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/donation-form/donation-for-poppies.
