Sponsored by the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club, The Sanibel School’s Interact Club planned and took part in service projects during the 2025-26 year designed to support their community and others.

The club members partnered with FISH of Sanibel-Captiva to assemble holiday ornaments for the community tree. They participated in two Feed My Starving Children food-packing events — one on Sanibel and one in Bonita Springs. Students also volunteered at the Rotary’s Annual Arts & Crafts Festival, where their water sales raised $545 for Feed My Starving Children.

In addition, club members operated a newly established Interact School Store throughout the academic year. They managed customer service, transactions, inventory, ordering and budgeting, with the store selling more than 500 items.

“Club members have planned and participated in multiple projects this school year and have earned deserved recognition for their ‘Service Above Self,'” Rotary Club member Barb Ellis said. “These efforts not only support important causes, but also inspire continued Interact participation and leadership among students.”

The club extended its thanks to Sanibel teacher Edna Dykhuizen for her continued dedication and service as club adviser to the school’s Interact Club and its members during the 2025-26 year.

Open to students in grades 6-8, the Interact Club at the Sanibel school encourages youths to develop leadership skills, while making a positive impact locally and internationally.
