Sanibel library offers range of programs and topics
The Sanibel Public Library provides a variety of programming for adults and children.
With support from the Sanibel Public Library Foundation, the library hosts a series of virtual author talks to include bestselling authors and thought leaders. The next one will take place on June 11 at 7 p.m. with New York Times bestseller Matt Dinniman, author of the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. He will chat about his latest book, “A Parade of Horribles.”
Dinniman is also an artist and has authored several other books about the end of the world.

Additionally, the library has the following programs scheduled:
The Florida Summer Sky will take place on June 10 from 11 a.m. to noon with staffer Duane E. Shaffer. Attendees will learn how to spot planets, stars and the moon, and they will explore what is possible to view and what light pollution may hide from one’s eyes.
On June 10, Crafternoon: Make Your Own Magnets will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Open to ages 5 and older, participants will make their own magnet. A variety of craft supplies will be available, along with examples and guidance.
The Cesar Domico Magic Show will take place on June 11 from 3 to 4 p.m. Get ready for an afternoon of fun and amazement with an internationally acclaimed magician. With mind-bending illusions, comedy and interactive tricks, Domico’s high-energy show will captivate attendees of all ages.
On June 16, Island Adventures Storytime will be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. with the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District. It will feature the local heroes sharing important tips and engaging with youths in a fun, interactive way. It will be an opportunity for children and families to learn about fire prevention, while enjoying stories and getting to know the firefighters who keep the community safe.
Chess & Checkers Extravaganza will take place on June 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Open to all ages, checkers and the large-size chess sets will be available to play.
On June 17, Crafternoon: Magic Patterns will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Open to ages 5 and older, participants will learn a simple trick to make cool pattern art. Supplies and guidance will be provided.
WEEKLY PROGRAMMING
– Family Storytime: Fridays and Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11 a.m.
Bring the whole family to enjoy stories, songs, movement and early literacy play centers that spark creativity and motor skills. Open to babies and toddlers and their caregivers.
Library cards are available to residents of Sanibel and Lee County at no charge. Visitor library cards are available for a $10 annual fee.
The library is open on Monday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
