Refuge provides update on WoW
The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS) reported that second-graders closed their eyes and took a virtual tour of sea turtle nests on the beach with J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge Wildlife on Wheels (WoW) volunteer and sea turtle expert Robin Kirk on the first day of summer camp last week at Lehigh Elementary School in Lehigh Acres. The WoW team taught students the importance of protecting the nests, how to measure to the nearest whole centimeter and how to use measuring skills to build miniature protective nest enclosures.
