Love Sanibel Back will continue on June 22-28 with Week 4, themed “Neighbors Connect.” This week’s challenge is to invite a neighbor, friend or island newcomer to join you at a local business for shopping, dining or an adventure. Participants are encouraged to strengthen community connections, while supporting Sanibel businesses. They are invited to share photos of their experiences on social media using #LoveSanibelBack. The week will culminate with Sip, Surprise & Create on June 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Heart of the Island Shops on Periwinkle Way. The free, special event will bring neighbors together for creativity, conversation and community. Macintosh Books + Paper will host a “Blind Date with a Book” giveaway, handing out 100 wrapped books with each featuring a brief description. Once participants finish reading their book, they are asked to pass it along through one of Sanibel’s Little Free Libraries. Free books for kids and teens will also be available. In addition, artist Rachel Pierce will offer a complimentary coffee and beverage bar with pastries and introduce a free collectible bookmark designed for Love Sanibel Back. It features artwork that can be colored and personalized, with different designs that will be offered throughout the summer at the Rachel Pierce Art Gallery, Home by Rachel Pierce and Pierce’s Paw Paradise. Running from now through August, Love Sanibel Back is built around the themes of “Buy Local — Spread Joy — Give Back.” The community-wide initiative is presented by Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in collaboration with community partners.
