Horse conch found at Cayo Costa

Raisa Dubik, of Belarus, found a horse conch on May 24 at about 11 a.m. while snorkeling at Cayo Costa State Park. Svetlana Fender reported that she and her mother were on a chartered cruise. “It took about 15 minutes to teach her snorkeling, but she was on the mission afterwards!” she said. Fender added that her mother screamed into her mouthpiece, which she forgot to take off, when she spotted the shell. “After a recent junonia find, I thought my luck had run out,” Dubik said. “However, apparently I am still one very lucky lady!” To report a shell find, contact 239-472-1587 or trepecki@breezenewspapers.com.
