County reports on schedules for upcoming holiday
Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed on July 3 in observance of Independence Day.
The county’s holiday schedule adjustments are as follows:
– COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
All Lee County Community Development lobbies and phones will be closed on July 3. They will reopen for regular hours on July 6.
– DOMESTIC ANIMAL SERVICES
Lee County Domestic Animal Services, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, will remain open on July 3. It will be closed on July 4 and will resume regular hours on July 6.
– LEETRAN
LeeTran will run bus, trolley, mobility on-demand and paratransit service on July 4. It will not run services on July 4. Services will resume on July 5. Route schedules and maps are available at www.rideleetran.com.
– LIBRARIES
Library branches will remain open on July 3. All locations will be closed on July 4 and will resume regular hours on July 6. Library resources are available online at www.leelibrary.net/online.
Library administration and Home Borrower Services will be closed on July 3.

– PARKS & RECREATION
Parks, pools and preserves will remain open on July 3-4. For a list of open locations, hours and amenities, visit www.leeparks.org.
Lee County Parks & Recreation offices and recreation centers will be closed on July 3. They will reopen on July 4.
The public is reminded that no alcohol or fireworks are permitted in county parks.
– SOLID WASTE
Residential garbage, recycling and yard waste schedules for unincorporated Lee County — which includes Captiva — the village of Estero and town of Fort Myers Beach will not be affected.
Lee County Solid Waste offices and the Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility, at 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers, will be closed on July 3. All other facilities, including the Lee-Hendry Landfill and Resource Recovery Facility, will remain open.
The Reuse Center, at 6441 Topaz Court, Fort Myers, will closed on July 4. It will be open instead on July 11 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Residents are urged to recycle plastic, metal and glass containers from holiday activities. Do not place plastic bags in the recycling cart. Never place active, hot or dry fireworks directly into trash or recycling bins.
If the plans for the weekend include cleaning up around the garage, remember to dispose of batteries from cell phones, power tools, laptops, e-bikes and other rechargeable devices at the Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility. – TRANSPORTATION
The Lee County Department of Transportation (DOT) reminded motorists that the Cape Coral Bridge will be closed on July 4 at 3 a.m. through July 5 at 3 a.m. for the Red, White & Boom celebration. Cape Coral Parkway from Del Prado Boulevard to the bridge will also be closed at that time.
Motorists are encouraged to use the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge, U.S. 41 or Business 41 bridges.
Lee DOT will place message boards for motorists in advance of the closure; they will remain in place through the holiday and closing. Motorists should plan for an alternate route.
