City employees give back through food drive
The city of Sanibel reported that its Employee Recognition Committee organized an employee food drive in May to support FISH of Sanibel-Captiva and give back to the community that it serves.
For many, the effort was personal. Over the past several years, Sanibel has faced unprecedented challenges from multiple hurricanes that impacted families and businesses. Throughout those difficult times, the island community consistently stepped forward to support staffers with encouragement, assistance and unwavering support.
“Sanibel has always been a community that cares for one another,” Human Resources Director Crystal Mansell said. “After everything this community has done to support city staff during and after the storms, we wanted to show our appreciation by helping others in need.”
The city noted that the employee food drive reflected the strong bond between its workforce and the residents that it serves each and every day.
The city is proud of its employees for demonstrating the compassion, resilience and generosity that make Sanibel such a special place to live and work,” she said. “Their efforts serve as another reminder that, on Sanibel, neighbors continue to stand together — especially during times of need.”
