ADULT PROGRAMS

– June 3: Online Author Event with Mary Savig from 2 to 3 p.m.

Join a fascinating discussion with Smithsonian curator Mary Savig on the history and significance of craft at state fairs — from blue-ribbon quilts to sculpted butter cows. She is The Fleur and Charles Bresler Curator-in-Charge of the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery. Savig holds a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Maryland, College Park. The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.

– June 4: Online Overcoming Brickwalls, Research Challenges, and Dead Ends from 10 a.m. to noon

Dead-ends, also known as brick walls, are occupational hazards for genealogists. These challenges are an inevitable part of the genealogical research process. The good news is that many dead-ends can be overcome with patience and good detective work. Most genealogists usually find methods or strategies to overcome the roadblocks. The seminar will discuss the most successful techniques to overcome the challenges. Registration is required by June 4 at 9 a.m.
