The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS) reported that the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge’s Wildlife on Wheels (WoW) mobile classroom team recently wound up the school year with pre-K students at the G. Weaver Hipps Early Learning Center in Lehigh Acres. It taught fun facts about snakes and how to draw a duck stamp like Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling, who drew the first one in 1935. In June, the WoW will begin its summer camp calendar at three schools: Lehigh Elementary School, the Guadalupe Center/Eden Park Elementary, and Littleton Elementary. For this year’s Wild for STEAM — Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics — camp, the “Who Done It” theme will have students acting as nature detectives to solve problems and mysteries.
