Junonia found on Sanibel

Ella Kischko, 11, of Bristol, Rhode Island, found a junonia on May 16 at about 7 p.m. near the Sanddollar Condominiums on Middle Gulf Drive on Sanibel. Lindsay Kischko reported that the shell is something her daughter has spent the better part of her 11 years searching the island’s beaches for. “Like many shell-loving kids, she’s combed the shoreline for years hoping for ‘the one,’ and this trip she finally found it!” she added. “It may be slightly weathered, but to Ella it’s absolute treasure.” To report a shell find, contact 239-472-1587 or trepecki@breezenewspapers.com.
