In recognition of Taps Across America, William “Bill” A. and Debbie Larson will host a Memorial Day Observance and playing of “Taps” for the community on May 25 at 3 p.m. at their Sanibel home.

“Taps” will be performed by Bill Larson, a retired U.S. Air Force colonel.

There will be cold drinks and an ice cream sundae bar by the pool after “Taps” until about 4:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public; no RSVPS are needed.

“We hope to see you!” the couple reported. “Feel free to bring a guest or two.”

Attendees should arrive by 2:50 p.m.

“We have some seating and lawn chairs, but if you can bring a beach chair with you, you will be assured of having a seat,” the couple reported.

Attendees are asked to park on the street on Bowen Bayou Road as close to the side of the road as possible or in their neighbors’ driveways at 4610 or 4609 Bowen Bayou Road, which they have permission to use.

“We will mark with a flag or a red balloon — something distinctive,” they reported.
