By the Sea owners held a groundbreaking ceremony on March 18 on Sanibel for By the Sea Condominiums, which will include three new residential buildings.

Marking a major milestone in the continued revitalization of the island’s Gulf-front coastline, the development will consist of three identical buildings, each totaling 19,477 square feet.

“This project represents the future of Sanibel Island,” association President Bob Moyle said. “We are building with longevity, safety and quality at the forefront, creating residences that will serve homeowners for generations while setting a new benchmark for resilient coastal development.”

Each structure is thoughtfully designed with a first-level parking garage and storage area, with condominium residences located on the second, third and fourth floors. Each building will feature six units, for a total of 18 condominium residences across the property.

In addition to covered parking for residents, the development will include additional exterior parking for visitors, a centrally located swimming pool and a walkover that will provide direct access from the pool area to the beach, enhancing the seamless coastal lifestyle residents expect on Sanibel.

The general contractor is Benchmark General Contractors, Double C Design is serving as the project architect and engineer, and JR Evans Engineering is the civil engineers.

The project is expected to be completed in March 2028.
