American Legion Post 123 on Sanibel recently honored Scouts Nathan Ames, Christopher Erickson, William Erickson, Graham Harris, Yari Mendez and Evan Nickolls from BSA Troop 1740 with Americanism Medals. Their Scout leader accepted one on behalf of Evan Nickolls, who could not attend. Among the four pillars of the Legion is Children and Youth and Americanism. Merit badges are symbols of achievement on the journey to becoming an Eagle Scout; they had earned the Music Merit Badge. Post 123 Cmdr. Tim Moore led the Scouts and attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance before presenting the medals. He noted that their achievements reflect their impact on the Sanibel community, as well as undergirding the tenants of the Legion’s Americanism focus. The Post is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Visitors are welcome.
