SCCF to hold shorebird volunteer training
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) will hold Sanibel Causeway Shorebird Steward Training on May 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at its headquarters, at 3333 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel. It reported that least terns have returned and are likely to nest again on Causeway Island A. The SCCF is seeking volunteers to join staff for two to three hour shifts on weekends and holidays to help educate beachgoers about the nesting birds and how the public can share the shore this summer. Training attendees will learn about the SCCF’s Sanibel Causeway Shorebird Stewarding Program for the 2026 nesting season.
