SCCF, partners support NOAA funding
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) reported that it and partners recently signed a letter supporting funds for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). It noted that the NOAA is a vital agency for all Floridians. From storm tracking and harmful algal bloom monitoring to fisheries management and cutting-edge ocean research, it provides direct benefits across multiple facets of people’s lives in Southwest Florida. The SCCF continued that providing the NOAA with robust funding to ensure that it can seamlessly continue its mission should be a priority, and were that funding to be cut, it would damage the region’s ability to monitor, study and make decisions about its local ecosystems. Last year, Congress acknowledged the importance of the NOAA, and the SCCF is hoping that it will do so again.
