Refuge provides update on wildlife
REFUGE/DDWS
Did you know that Florida raccoons are specially adapted to live in a mangrove ecosystem? According to the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel, they are excellent climbers and swimmers and make use of the mangroves’ dense root systems as their hunting grounds and a protective shelter. To learn more about the Florida raccoon, check out the Field Guide Friday on the “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge’s (DDWS) Instagram or Facebook.
