Rec center provides update on activities, events
The Sanibel Recreation Center reported on upcoming programs and activities.
A collaboration with the Sanibel Public Library and MacIntosh Books + Paper, One Community, One Book will meet on April 16 at noon. The book club is designed to bring neighbors together through literature with local ties. “The Mango Tree” by Annabelle Tometich will be discussed; she will be in attendance. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is free, but registration is required.
Presented by SanCap Native Plant Design, a Gardening Workshop will be held on April 16 at noon. The session will be on “Habitat Gardening.” The cost is $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Registration is required.
Boots & Blossoms Line Dancing will be held on April 17 at 6:30 p.m. with Tracy and Linette. Open to ages 18 and older; no partner is needed. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members in advance or $20 for members and $25 for non-members at the door. Registration is required.
Sound Bowl Healing with Dani will take place on April 23 at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. Registration is required.
Teen Scene: Dive-In Big Screen Night will take place on April 24 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Open to grades 6-9, it will feature a big screen, pool games, pizza and more. The cost is $10 for members and $13 for non-members. Registration is required.
The center is open on Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beach parking permits are available for purchase.
New and current members can call 239-472-0345 or stop by the front desk for help with setting up their CivicRec account. A variety of memberships, passes and punch cards are available.
