Kiwanis holds meetings with speakers
The Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Club recently welcomed city of Sanibel Vice Mayor Holly Smith as its guest speaker at a meeting. She shared a legislative update on issues that matter to Sanibel and communities across Florida, along with insights from her role as president of the Florida League of Cities. At a following meeting, it welcomed representatives from the United Way of Lee, Hendry & Glades. They shared insights on their community impact, with a mission that aligns with the club’s — nurturing children and youth, empowering communities, and strengthening families. Trailways Camps Executive Director Jamie Senkeleski was also a guest speaker at a recent club meeting. She shared insights into the impactful work that the organization is doing to provide meaningful experiences and opportunities for individuals with special needs. Additionally, 20th Judicial Circuit State Attorney Amira Fox recently spoke on “How Human Trafficking Affects Everyone.” Her presentation shed light on how trafficking impacts local communities, the warning signs to be aware of and how individuals can play a role in prevention and awareness.
