DDWS reports on refuge programming and more

REFUGE/DDWS The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel celebrated Earth Day on April 22 with earth crafts, tours and other activities.

The “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge (DDWS) provided the following updates for the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge, at 1 Wildlife Drive, Sanibel:

– The 14th annual “Ding” Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament will take place on May 15. The tourney has filled. To be placed on the wait list, contact DDWS Events, Marketing and Grants Manager Angeli Chin at angeli@dingdarlingsociety.org.

– Celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary with the refuge on July 4 with live music and sweet treats.

– Art will meet nature at Art in the Wild on Oct. 20-22.

– The refuge will celebrate Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling’s 150th birthday on Oct. 21.

– The REVIVE! Trash-To-Fashion Couture Collection Show will be held on Nov. 4. The deadline for applications is May 15 at 11:59 p.m.
