City council taking applications for representative

The city of Sanibel is seeking a representative to participate in Lee County’s Program for Public Information (PPI) under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). The role will help residents understand flood risks, promote flood insurance awareness and support local outreach initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

– Assessing public information needs and identifying key target audiences

– Developing messaging related to flood hazard and mitigation strategies

– Coordinating outreach projects to deliver messaging

– Preparing and maintaining the PPI

Qualifications:

– Strong communication and community engagement skills

– Familiarity with floodplain management or emergency management is preferred

– Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies and local stakeholders

The deadline for applications is April 21 at noon.

The Sanibel City Council will make the appointment at its May 5 meeting.
