CCA to wrap up season with Summer Wine Preview
Tickets are available for a wine tasting focused on the perfect pairings for summertime activities.
The Captiva Civic Association (CCA) will present its Summer Wine Preview on April 27 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Captiva Civic Center on Captiva. A Bit of Bailey’s and The Island Store wine steward Calli Johnson duPont will serve as host, with food pairings crafted by Chef Karl Hamme.
“Our wine tastings are so popular during season,” Board President Lisa Riordan said, explaining that the CCA actually received a request for a summer event from those who were still on the islands.
“So we added another event, but wanted a little bit of a different theme,” she added.
The featured wines will be selected for the warm summer months. Attendees will enjoy a refreshing lineup of reds, whites and rosés that are perfect for sunny afternoon and island evening sipping.
“It’s lighter wines than perhaps you might have with a winter meal,” Riordan said. “More fun and festive — maybe served at a summer barbecue type of wines.”
Hamme will serve up the culinary pairings.
“It’s always a very pleasant surprise of what Karl pairs with the wines,” she said. “He’s had a great amount of fun putting together the pairings.”
Attendees will have the chance to order the featured bottles for pick up.
Valerie Tutor is sponsoring the event.
“We are thrilled that Valerie Tutor is sponsoring this,” Riordan said. “She is excited about it, and we are very happy to work with her.”
Karen Bell and the Bell Team, with Michael Saunders and Company, is the CCA’s season sponsor.
“We’re always very grateful for Karen Bell and the Bell team’s support,” she said.
Tickets are $60 for members and $70 for non-members.
The deadline for tickets is April 24.
The community is invited to reserve a spot.
“It’s always an adventure, it’s always delicious and it’s always fun,” Riordan said of the CCA’s wine tastings. “It’s the community getting together to share information and learn something new.”
“This is our final event of the season,” she added. “So it’s a farewell to the season.”
