The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) reported that it received a $5,000 contribution from the Sanibel FlyFishers to support its Marine Laboratory’s ongoing monitoring and research of water quality, seagrass and oyster habitat health. The gift will help replace an aging, nonfunctional GPS unit on the 26-foot Panga vessel, ensuring accurate navigation to sampling sites. The funding will also support the installation of a powerpole anchoring system, which will allow researchers to hold position without traditional anchors, reducing disturbance to habitats.
