The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club recently welcomed District 6960 Governor-elect Dennis Wallace as its guest speaker at a meeting. He shared his vision for Rotary’s 2026-27 theme, “Creating Lasting Impact.” His term will begin on July 1. At a following meeting, it welcomed WGCU Public Media General Manager Corey Lewis. He is focused on growing the region’s NPR and PBS services to keep pace with the expansion and diversity of Southwest Florida. Under his leadership, WGCU has broadened its storytelling across news, arts and culture, science and technology, and more. Captiva Island Historical Society Board President (CIHS) Tom Libonate was the guest speaker at a recent club meeting. A local nonprofit, the CIHS is committed to the gathering, preserving, interpreting and sharing of Captiva Island history, while providing education about the remarkable people and events that have shaped its past. The club meets on Fridays at 7:30 a.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. For more information, visit sanibelrotary.org.
