Rotary accepting scholarship applications
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club is taking applications for college/post-secondary scholarships and technical college scholarships for the 2026-27 academic year.
The scholarships include the Jimmy Traucht Endowed Scholarship for the University of Florida and a second scholarship for any certified university. In addition, there are three Bill Rahe Memorial Technical College Scholarships for any Lee County Technical College. The awards are up to $5,000 per year and may be renewed for up to four years, subject to maintaining at least a 3.0 GPA.
Applicants must be a graduating high school senior or have graduated from a Lee County high school or enrolled in an institution of higher learning in Florida. Preference may be given to those who live or work regularly on the islands or whose parents live or work on the islands, but it is not a requirement. Strong academic performance and financial need are important components of the selection process.
The deadline for the applications is April 1.
Applicants will be notified no later than May 15 of the decision.
