Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sanibel offered Ashes on the Go on Feb. 18 — Ash Wednesday — outside near the Shared Use Path. More than 300 people drove over, walked up or biked by to receive the imposition of ashes, a blessing or both, marking the beginning of Lent. Rector the Rev. Bill Van Oss distributed ashes, along with “Lent in a Bag” kits. The Rev. Coleen Tully, assistant priest for the church, distributed ashes at the Gladiolus Food Pantry in Fort Myers.
