Captiva library, county system offer programs

The Captiva Memorial Library, which is part of the Lee County Library System, is offering the following free programming:

CHILDREN PROGRAMS

The library is open on Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

In addition, the library system is offering the following free virtual programming:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– April 2: Online Author Event with Valerie Neal from 2 to 3 p.m.

Experience a look at the history of U.S. women astronauts with Valerie Neal, curator emerita of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and a leading expert in human spaceflight. She is the author of “On a Mission: The Smithsonian History of U.S. Women Astronauts.” Neal collected over 1,500 shuttle-era artifacts, curated major exhibitions, produced Smithsonian Channel documentaries, authored numerous publications, and previously worked on NASA missions and history. She holds a Ph.D. in American studies. The event is part of the Online Author Events Series. Registration is required.

– April 8: Online Photo Identification Techniques from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Participants will see how free tech tools and some creative sleuthing turned unidentified photos into identified treasures. Registration is required by April 8 at 9 a.m.
