Rec center provides update on activities, events
The Sanibel Recreation Center reported on upcoming programs and activities.
Wellness Wednesdays will take place on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. Dr. Joe Blanda will present “Wellness in Nature.” The program is free, but registration is required.
Heart Opening Yoga with Michelle Harmon will be held on Feb. 27 at 9 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. Part of the Healthy Heart Month initiative, attendees are encouraged to wear red. They should also bring their own mat and blanket, if possible.
Get to Know Your Island will take place on March 3 at noon. The program will highlight the SanCap Chamber. The speaker series is designed to connect the community with people and organizations that make Sanibel unique. Light refreshments will be provided. The program is free, but registration is required.
Let’s Go Shelling to Keywaydin Island will be held on March 4 from 5:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Meet before the sun rises to head to Marco Island and cruise to Keywaydin Island for negative low-tide shelling. Attendees can pack a small cooler, with lunch, drinks and a chair, if needed. The cost is $62 for members and $78 for non-members. Registration is required.
Nagging No-See-Ums Flag Football will take place from March 6 through April 24. Open to grades: pre-K through second, third through fifth, and sixth through eighth. The cost is $45 for members and $56 for non-members. Registration is required.
The center is open on Mondays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Beach parking permits are available for purchase.
New and current members can call 239-472-0345 or stop by the front desk for help with setting up their CivicRec account. A variety of memberships, passes and punch cards are available.
